Glen Hayes, age 99, of Gallatin, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019.
There will be no visitation and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gallatin Church of Christ, 150 E. Main Street, Gallatin, TN 37066; or the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Efforts, 410 Allied Drive, Nashville, TN 37211.
Mr. Hayes was born March 29, 1920 in Bluefield, West Virginia, to the late O. R. Hayes and Ethel Guthrie Hayes. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Margretta Lazenby; and beloved son, Bill Hayes. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Myra Hayes of Gallatin; son, Rick (Martha) Hayes of Naples, Florida; and daughters, Glenda (Burt) Larsen of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and Lori (Todd) Carter of Franklin, Tennessee; six grandsons, Chad (Elizabeth) Larsen of Haymarket, Virginia, Brett (Erinn) Larsen of New York City, 1st Lt. Creighton Hayes, USMC, Okinawa, Reese Hayes of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Hayes Carter of Franklin, Tennessee, and William Carter of Franklin, Tennessee; step-grandson, Ford Battle of Naples, Florida; step- granddaughter, Lindsay (Jake) Ripplinger of Illinois; great grandchildren, Andrew Larsen of Virginia, Alissa Larsen of Virginia, and Colton Ripplinger of Illinois; former daughter-in-law, Nikki (Chris) Caramia and daughter, Ava Caramia, all of Franklin, Tennessee.
He was educated in Charleston, West Virginia schools and Morris-Harvey College. Glen graduated from Bentley School of Finance in Boston, Massachusetts in 1940. He was drafted to serve in WWII in 1942 and discharged at the rank of captain from the U.S. Army in 1946. Mr. Hayes was employed as an office manager and financial manager for several businesses in Sumner County. He was a devoted student of the Bible and loved the Lord.
