Temperatures, dew point, chance for thunderstorms rise in “hit or miss” pattern

After lower dew points last week, this week will bring a return to summer heat, humidity, and storms.

Though each day has a slight chance for thunderstorms, Matt Regan, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said it would be difficult to predict which day storms might strike.

“It’s just going to be a summertime hit or miss type of pattern,” he said. The higher chances for storms are today through Wednesday, with storms chances falling slightly into the weekend.

An unstable air mass is to blame for the weather pattern; “it’s luck of the draw,” Regan said.

Temperatures will be in the low to mid nineties throughout the week, with a dew point reaching 70.

“It’s just a nasty heat,” Regan said. “It’s that time of year.”
