After awakening to snow on the ground Monday morning, Middle Tennessee residents can expect warmer temperatures throughout the week, culminating in more precipitation and possible thunderstorms over the weekend.

Middle Tennessee is reaching the peak of the severe weather season, which is April, said Sam Shamburger, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service bureau located in Nashville.

The weather will remain cool through Wednesday, before warming considerably Thursday into the weekend.

Highs will reach the 60s and possibly the 70s, before rain is set to move in on Friday morning and taper off Friday night.

Though rain is also forecast for Saturday and Sunday, Shamburger expects a break Saturday, before a continued deluge on Sunday and Monday.

“I know everyone is waterlogged and sick of rain,” Shamburger said. “Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’s ending anytime soon.”
