Hendersonville man charged with attempted murder after shots were fired at police at Windsor Park Apartments

A Hendersonville man has been charged with attempted murder after shots were fired at police officers responding to a report of a hit and run automobile accident on Wednesday.

Zachary C. Newsome is charged with criminal attempted 1st degree murder, two counts of reckless endangerment, assault on a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest.

According to an account from the Hendersonville Police Department, officers responding to the hit and run report were able to locate a suspect at building two of the Windsor Park Apartments, off Bonita Parkway on Windsor Park Lane.

Shots were fired from inside of the apartment.   

Officers were able to arrest Newsome, age 25, of Hendersonville.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
