The popular Music on Main returns to Portland this summer with all new artists playing this year.
“It’s a great free event that will have great music and several great vendors setup,” Portland Chamber of Commerce Events Coordinator Kristen Daughtry said. “Big Al’s catering will also have his food truck setup for the June concert.”
The first concert will take place on Thursday, June 14 and will feature the bluegrass music of Code of the Hills.
On Thursday night, July 12, Soul Soup will play covers from artists like The Eagles, Stevie Wonder, Beatles, Doobie Brothers, and much more.
In August, the Music on Main concert series will move to Saturday nights. On Aug. 11, the band Legacy will perform. They play jams from artists such as Kansas, Marshall Tucker Band, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and others.
Lee Gibson will perform the last Music on Main concert of the 2018 season. He will take the stage on Saturday, Sept. 8. Gibson plays country music and has opened shows for Ronnie McDowell in the past.
All the concerts begin at 7 p.m. and it is encouraged to bring a lawn chair to ensure a good seat.
A different food truck vendor will be set up at each show or dining at a nearby restaurant on Main Street before the concert is also an option.
The event is sponsored by the Farmers Bank, City of Portland, Tri-Star Portland, Old Hickory Credit Union, Shoals Technologies are presenting sponsors. The following businesses will have booths set up including: Volunteer State Bank, Dorman Products, Shannon Insurance, Spine Stop Chiropractic, In the Cut Barbershop, Middle Tennessee Audiology, Exit Garden Gate Realty and Sumner Crest Winery.
