Hendersonville Police arrest drive-by shooting suspect; confiscate drugs


A local man was arrested early this morning in connection with a Friday afternoon drive-by shooting.

No injuries occurred as a result of this shooting, that occurred at about 4:30 p.m. on March 1, 2019 a drive-by shooting occurred in the 100 block of Volunteer Drive in Hendersonville.

Austin Ellis, 31, of Hendersonville was identified as a suspect following an investigation. Hendersonville Police obtained a search warrant for the residence of Ellis, located in the 200 block of Old Shackle Island Road. A Hendersonville Police SWAT Team executed a high-risk search warrant at the residence in the early morning hours of March 2, 2019 and Ellis was taken into custody. During a search of the home numerous firearms and various drugs packaged for resale were located by police.

As a result of the shooting incident and the evidence recovered during the search warrant Hendersonville Police Detectives have charged Austin Ellis with:

  • Reckless Endangerment
  • Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon (5 counts)
  • Possession of Schedule 1 (Heroin) for resale
  • Possession of Schedule 2 (Crystal Methamphetamine) for resale
  • Simple Possession Schedule 6 (Marijuana)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Ellis is being held in the Sumner County Jail and is scheduled to be in Sumner County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. on March 27, 2019. Austin Ellis’ bond amount was not known at the time of this release.
