Current Republican majority leader for the Tennessee House of Representatives Glen Casada has announced his intention to run for Speaker of the Tennessee House.
Casada has served on the Tennessee House of Representatives in District 63 since the year 2000, and previously served as the Williamson County Commissioner from 1994 to 2001.
Casada graduated from Western Kentucky University, receiving a bachelor’s in agriculture in 1982. Following his graduation and before his public service, Casada has worked as a teacher, a salesman and with TLC Medical Equipment Company.
The current speaker of the Tennessee house, Republican Beth Harwell, saw an unsuccessful campaign for the Republican governor nominee back in August, receiving 5,264 votes.
Election day for 2018 is November 6, with the voter registration deadline on October 9. To register to vote, please visit the Tennessee government website.
