Former Portland High School great and current Oklahoma City Thunder guard Corey Brewer enjoys coming back home to Portland each summer.
Brewer will once again host his annual free basketball camp on Saturday July 14 at PHS.
For Brewer it’s a chance to come back to Portland and give a little back to the community.
“I enjoy coming back home and working with the kids at the camp,” Brewer added. “I went to school at Portland with most of their parents.”
This year there will be two sessions to accommodate the demand for kids wanting to sign-up. The times for the sessions are 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m to 2:45 p.m.
Registration for the camp begins Monday April 9, at 8 a.m. at coreybrewer.com.
The camp is open to ages 8-15 years old with each kid receiving a free t-shirt.
Brewer was recently traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. In 15 games for the Thunder he’s averaging 10.2 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game, 2.1 steals per game and 28.4 minutes per game. Brewer has started the last 13 games for the Thunder.
