The Sumner County Emergency Management Agency and several local agencies have stepped up to help several Portland residents that are without water.
Sumner EMA is reporting that a water line that supplies the Oak Grove area in Portland is broken.
Officials have spent the past few days working to repair the line and not sure when the line will be fixed.
“We’ve had our crews working into the night over the last few days,” Portland Mayor Kenneth Wilber said. “We also have had outside crews coming in to help us.”
According to Wilber the leak or leaks have not been found and once the leaks are found they will be able to tell residents when it will be fixed.
The Portland Police department will have bottled drinking water available to residents in the affected area until 8 p.m. Friday, and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning and continue to distribute the water as needed.
The bottled water has been donated by Food Lion, Sam’s Club, TEMA, Nestle Water, and the Portland Water Department.
