The City of Gallatin proudly announces a holiday art installation in the Gallatin City Hall lobby featuring the Nancy comic strip penned by Guy Gilchrist, who was a once a Gallatin resident. During his career, Gilchrist illustrated notable cartoons such as The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Looney TunesTom & Jerry, Tiny ToonsJim Henson’s Fraggle RockThe Pink Panther and Minnie Mouse.

The collection includes a Christmas scene with Nancy and Sluggo, original framed artwork of Nancy and other comic strips drawn by Gilchrist.

Gilchrist is an avid musician and released a Christmas CD titled Merry Christmas Sluggo. In the spirit of holiday giving, Gilchrist is generously offering free signed CDs in exchange for a donation of three cans of food to the Sumner County Food Bank. Experience the exhibit, bring your food donations to the Mayor’s Office, and claim the whimsical Merry Christmas Sluggo CD (while supplies last – details below).

About the Artist

At the age of 24, Gilchrist was selected to create Jim Henson’s Muppets Comic Strip that was printed worldwide in 660-plus newspapers daily from 1981 to 1986. His Muppets artwork was enshrined in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC. in 1984 after he was Guest of Honor at the White House. Guy Gilchrist took over the iconic Nancy comic strip in 1995, and 2017 marks his twenty-second year drawing Nancy, her Aunt Fritzi and Sluggo. Syndicated internationally in 80 countries and some 400 newspapers, Nancy has a readership of 57 million readers around the world.

Details on Food Donations
A limited supply of 50 signed Merry Christmas Sluggo CDs are available. Present three food items to the Mayor’s Office in City Hall at 132 W. Main Street to claim a Merry Christmas Sluggo CD. The Sumner County Food Bank encourages the following food items: meals in a can, tuna, chicken, peanut butter and olive/canola oil.
